Janssen-Fritsen improves the customer experience with a new e-commerce platform

About
Janssen-Fritsen grew from a small family business into a major international player in sports and play equipment. As the growth accelerated, so did the ambition to offer customers the ultimate online experience, creating the need for a fast, user-friendly and scalable e-commerce platform. John van der Horst, director at Janssen-Fritsen, and Armin Lehmann, project manager and e-commerce advisor, share their story about building the new platform on Shopware 6.
Challenge
An outdated platform doesn't fit maximum customer satisfaction
"Serving our customers well is what matters most," says Armin Lehmann. An outdated, slow, unfriendly and unscalable platform doesn't fit that ambition. Janssen-Fritsen wants to offer its customers the best possible service, both offline and online.
Complex requirements call for an experienced partner
"Our website is fairly complex. There's a content section that offers inspiration for, among other things, gym layouts. A shop section that needed to be linked to our ERP system. And an online account environment where our customers can easily view all their documents, think of purchase orders, invoices and inspection reports," John explains. "For our new platform, we were looking for an e-commerce partner with Shopware experience and knowledge of integrations," Armin adds.
Solution
The choice for Shopware and Strix
To meet these goals, the choice fell on Shopware: an open source solution with plenty of scope to fully support B2B customers. "Shopware is the most forward-thinking system compared to its competitors," says John van der Horst. Besides a place for inspiration and information, the new e-commerce platform also serves as the online hub for account management.
"Translating our wishes into the setup of the new platform, combined with the personal approach and the transparent proposal, led to the choice for Strix."
The B2B Suite delivers the complete picture
Janssen-Fritsen serves municipalities, schools and sports clubs, some with more than 100 sports locations. By using the B2B Suite, Janssen-Fritsen offers these customers a complete and, above all, user-friendly platform with a range of special features.
"Every sports location is inspected annually. In our online account environment, customers can find the inspection report along with the assessment. They immediately see the condition of the equipment and which items were rejected. Based on this information, we send the customer a proposal advising how to bring the sports location back up to standard. If the customer accepts the quote, it becomes an order. In the account environment, both we and the customer can see current orders, order history and the related invoices. This gives our customers a complete overview from a single, central point: from inspection to order. The platform will soon be extended with a multi-year maintenance budget, so customers also gain insight into the investments they can expect in the coming years," says John.
Results
A strong, user-friendly B2B platform
The efforts are paying off: both Janssen-Fritsen's account managers and its customers are very pleased with the new platform. "We get great feedback on the platform's speed, and the inspiration section is also well received. Customers really appreciate the clear overview of the options for setting up a sports facility," John shares.
John and Armin are happy with the result too. With only a handful of adjustments, the project was delivered true to its original premise: a strong, user-friendly B2B platform. "Our experience with Strix? Very pleasant. Beyond their technical knowledge, their strength lies in their involvement and flexibility. They took action immediately whenever an unforeseen challenge called for a different solution," Armin concludes.
