Profix: a scalable e-commerce platform powered by Shopify and Ergonode

About
Profix, an owner of brands in the tools and workwear industry, faced the challenge of modernizing its online sales. Strix designed and implemented a new sales environment based on Shopify Plus and Ergonode PIM.
Challenge
Profix, an owner of brands in the tools and workwear industry, faced the challenge of modernizing its online sales. The existing store, built on PrestaShop, was technologically outdated, difficult to manage independently, and did not effectively support the growth of the e-commerce channel. Implementing new functionalities - especially in terms of time-to-market - was time-consuming and required significant effort.
Strix designed and implemented a new sales environment based on Shopify Plus and Ergonode PIM. The project included not only the launch of the new LAHTI PRO store, but, above all, the organization of product data, the preparation of scalable integrations, and the creation of a foundation for the company’s further digital growth.
The existing e-commerce environment no longer met the organization’s needs. The store was difficult to maintain, limited in terms of configuration, and not sufficiently prepared for scaling online sales.
The biggest challenge was the product catalog. Data was stored in a flat structure: a product had a name, SKU, images, and a description that also contained all technical information. There were no structured attributes, no logical category hierarchy, and no efficient way to manage variants, parameters, and descriptions.
In practice, this led to several business issues:
- time-consuming offer management
- very limited product filtering
- underutilization of technical data in the store
- limited independence of the client’s team
- further e-commerce scaling required a new architectural approach
An additional requirement was to prepare a solution not only for a single store but also for future projects and markets - including support for multiple Shopify stores and a single Ergonode instance acting as a central, consistent source of data.
Solution
Strix proposed an architecture based on the integration of Shopify and Ergonode PIM. Shopify provided ease of use, SaaS stability, and the ability for the client’s team to manage the store efficiently. Ergonode became the central hub for structuring and enriching product data.
A key role was played by SESI+ (Strix Ergonode Shopify Integration), designed to connect the PIM with the store and ensure future scalability.
The integration enabled:
- centralized product data mapping
- transferring products from Ergonode to Shopify
- mapping attributes to Shopify product fields and metafields
- creating metafield structures
- converting Ergonode categories into Shopify collections
- transferring category trees into Shopify menus
- supporting multiple Shopify stores
- preparing the solution for new markets and projects
One of the most important aspects was restructuring the product model. Products that previously existed as separate entries were consolidated into variant products with a clear structure of available options and differentiating attributes. They were also enriched with numerous technical parameters and detailed data required for effective presentation in the store.
Thanks to splitting attributes, it became possible to create appropriate product structures in Shopify based on data from Ergonode. This significantly improved the handling of products available in multiple colors, sizes, and variants.
At the same time, the store’s UX/UI layer was refreshed. The visual layer was based on a ready-made Shopify theme, which shortened implementation time and allowed the team to focus on user experience. Strix customized the template to fit the brand and product catalog, using built-in elements such as menus, search, filters, and accordion sections for technical data.
Particular focus was placed on:
- modern brand and product presentation
- a clear product page layout
- easy access to technical specifications
- advanced filtering
- improved navigation between product variants
- moving away from the look and feel of the old store

Results
The result of the project is a new, fully functional store based on Shopify, integrated with Ergonode PIM and ready for further scaling.
Key outcomes include:
- structured product data
- creation of attribute and technical parameter frameworks
- improved product catalog management
- greater independence of the client’s team
- ability to support additional stores and markets
- modern UX/UI based on Shopify
- clearer product presentation
- advanced product filtering
- stable go-live without major issues
The project was launched according to plan, and the first business results appeared very quickly. Even before intensive SEO and marketing activities began, the store started generating significantly more organic orders.
This resulted in multiple-fold sales growth already at the early stage of the new platform’s operation.
The new e-commerce environment has become a foundation for Profix’s further digital transformation. The client gained not just a new store, but - more importantly - a well-structured data ecosystem and an architecture ready to support future brands, markets, and sales initiatives.
