Shopify Payments in Poland - a new era for Polish merchants

P

olish e-commerce is entering a new level. With the long-awaited debut of Shopify Payments in Poland, online store owners gain a tool that can dramatically change the way they sell - both locally and in foreign markets. It is a solution that eliminates technological barriers, simplifies payment management and increases conversion.

What exactly is Shopify Payments?

Shopify Payments is a proprietary payment system integrated directly with the Shopify platform. It allows you to accept payments by credit and debit cards, BLIK, online transfers, and via Apple Pay and Google Pay – without the need to integrate with external gateways such as PayU, Przelewy24 or Stripe.

What's more, the entire purchasing process takes place within the shop – the customer is not redirected to external services, which significantly shortens the purchasing path and increases the chances of finalizing the transaction.

Why is this important for Polish sellers?

Until now, sellers in Poland had to face numerous limitations: complicated integration of international payments, lack of local payment methods or the need to operate abroad to be able to use Shopify Payments. Now this is changing.

Thanks to this solution, you can:

  • sell in multiple currencies without the need to mess around with additional applications,
  • increase conversion thanks to friends and fast payment methods for customers,
  • manage all payments and withdrawals from one panel,
  • improve sales data analysis - everything reported natively in Shopify.

Real benefits - examples from the market

The use of Shopify Payments has already brought tangible results in other countries:

  • BLT Basics (fashion): +50% increase in conversion after implementing Shopify Payments.
  • Pillow Cube (home & living): 6.5% GMV generated by Shop Pay Installments, increase in average basket value.
  • Up and Fit (sports and fitness): smooth payment processing, intuitive checkout, better user experience.

These figures show that convenience and a simplified shopping process have a direct impact on sales.

How do I activate Shopify Payments?

Activating Shopify Payments is quick and easy:

  1. Log in to the Shopify administration panel.
  2. Go to Settings → Payments.
  3. Select “Activate Shopify Payments”.
  4. Fill out the activation form.
  5. After approval, Shopify Payments will become the default payment method in your store.

Costs and commissions - what is worth knowing?

One of the biggest advantages of Shopify Payments is the lack of fees for using external payment gateways. Nevertheless, transaction commissions apply - different for domestic and foreign sales.

Sales in Poland:

  • Fixed fee: 1.20 PLN per transaction
  • Commissions depending on the plan:
    • Basic: 1.95%
    • Shopify: 1.8%
    • Advanced: 1.65%

Sales abroad:

  • Fixed fee: 12.20 PLN
  • Commissions:
    • Basic: 3.2%
    • Shopify: 3.05%
    • Advanced: 2.9%

Additionally:

  • Currency conversion: 1.5% for the USA, 2% for other markets (cost included in the amount paid by the buyer).

A hybrid approach may be a good practice - leave an external payment gateway for local customers and use Shopify Payments for foreign sales.

Why is it worth it?

Shopify Payments is more than just a new payment method - it is a real tool for scaling up your e-commerce business. Key advantages:

  • Simpler management: One platform - one integration.
  • Increased conversion: thanks to faster checkout and familiar payment methods.
  • Multi-currency: effortlessly serve customers from all over the world.
  • Dynamic pricing: customers see prices in their own currency, making them feel at home.
  • Better analytics: Shopify records transaction data better in analytics tools.

Is this solution for you?

If you sell internationally (or are just planning to expand) and want an intuitive, automated and efficient payment system, Shopify Payments is a solution worth implementing.

For many entrepreneurs, it's a real breakthrough that allows them to focus on what's really important - business development and customer satisfaction.
